Heavy mite infestations in chickens lead to high levels of stress and result in anaemia, reduced egg production and, eventually if not treated, death, so the effects of red mite are of considerable economic importance when considering production costs.
Additionally, mite can transmit diseases, such as the chicken pox virus, Newcastle Disease, fowl typhoid and salmonella as well as causing dermatitis and mange. When disturbed, they will also bite interfering humans and can cause a type of dermatitis.

Organic Flying and Crawling Insect Powder
It can be used against a wide range of crawling insects which are found in the home including ants, cockroaches, earwigs, bedbugs, fleas, silverfish, woodlice, stored product pests, mites (including Poultry Mites) etc.
NATURAL, non toxic powder kills insects by causing them to dry up (dessiccate).
Smite Powder is produced from fossilised diatoms (diatomaceous earth), a naturally occurring product.
The powder controls insects by non-chemical means and is safe to use in higher risk areas (such as where animals are present). Excellent for use in nest boxes.
Apply dust as required to areas that the insects live or frequent. Apply only to dry secure areas and cracks and crevices where insects could harbour.
